Adult Acting Class (Modern and Contemporary)

Join Dr. Jack Wann for a class on modern and contemporary acting. The course will challenge actors aged 16 and up of all levels of experience. Each student will be given monologues to learn and perform at the showcase at the end of the session. Individual work with Dr. Wann is included. The Thwarting of Barron Bolligrew is a medieval comic adventure which charts the struggle between the forces of good and evil, represented by the very good strait-laced knight Oblong fitz Oblong, and the very evil dictatorial Baron Bolligrew, aided by the bullying Squire Blackheart. Throw in an malevolent dragon, doctor of the dark arts, weak, silly mayor, terrorized peasants, and two talking magpies and you have all the making of a medieval melodramatic hijinks of the highest order!

Summer Youth Acting Camp - Ages 7-10

During this exciting week-long acting camp (June 17-21, 9:00-noon), led by Emily Kees, students will prepare a collection of several ten-minute plays! Students will be cast in a variety of roles and we will spend the week learning how to bring characters to life on stage. More advanced students may be able to perform several roles, while beginning actors will focus on one or two roles they can really dive into! We will learn and develop our basic theatre skillset, and work to improve. With a balance of fun drama games and substantial character work, every student, regardless of where they are in their theatre journey, will be able to grow their skills and confidence! Spots are limited, register your young actor soon!

Directing for the Theatre

A 6-week adult class in directing exploring what it takes to be a director in the theatre. Six weeks of “tips”- lectures and demonstrations from a veteran professional, lively discussions and hands-on sessions with live actors allow the participants to examine the directing process from play selection, play analysis, creating a concept, ground plan, auditioning and casting through the rehearsal process and performance. Open to all levels of experience from totally without experience to professionals aged 18 and up. Classes will meet on Wednesdays, July 17-August 21,from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The instructor is Dr. Jack Wann, AEA, SAG-AFTRA. The cost is $150 per student. Space is limited.
