The Flower and The Serpent: World Premiere MOVIE
Shelby County Community Theatre
Shelbyville, KY 40065
How to get there
Shot at Shelby County Community Theatre over the Summer with a cast and crew assembled by SCCT volunteers, “The Flower + The Serpent” is a short film inspired by William Shakespeare’s classic tragedy “Macbeth.”
“Ophelia (Ashley Connell) hasn’t left the house in two years, but her little sister Julie ( Lily Milliner) has convinced her to volunteer at her local community theatre painting the set for their upcoming production of “Macbeth.” Working on St.Patrick’s Day, the theatre was supposed to be empty for the night. Until “O” heard the voices.”
The film stars SCCT regulars Ashley Connell (Ebenezer, Fiddler on the Roof, Murder by Poe, Uncle Vanya), Lily Milliner (Treasure Island, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Puffs, The Thwarting of Baron Bolligrew), Sheena Odenweller (Picasso at the Lapin Agile, The Lion in Winter, Ebenezer, 9 to 5, Ebenezer, Uncle Vanya) and Jaden Berry (Fiddler on the Roof, Uncle Vanya)
Nathan wrote, directed, shot, edited and produced “The Flower + The Serpent” as the third entry of his “Birdcage Trilogy” - a thematic trilogy that began with two shorts he made in a film series called “Volumes of Blood.” It took ten years but with this film he has completed the trilogy.
Nate has called this a love letter to Shelby County Community Theatre.
