Uncle Vanya is a play by Anton Chekhov about the disillusionment and unrequited love experienced by the inhabitants of a rural Russian estate. The arrival of the retired Professor Serebryakov and his young wife, Yelena, disrupts the lives of Uncle Vanya, his niece Sonya, and the doctor Astrov. Tensions rise as Vanya, who has dedicated his life to managing the estate for the professor, realizes the professor is a selfish fraud.
